*Dress Up (Costume): Halloween costume is optional. Props, weapon or long tail costumes are not allowed. Should be comfortable to walk around and sit with the costume or players must change the costume before the games. We will have some special take home treats for all the players.

To Register: All current Mavin students or anyone with an existing Mavin account can register using the tournament form on the website. New families need to create an account before submitting the form. Detailed instructions shown below.

Game and Time control:

  • Quad (3 Rounds)
  • G/30;d5 (30 minutes for each player, with 5 seconds delay for every move)

Sections:

  • Quad groups will be organized based on USCF OTB or online rating (not based on Chess.com or other online rating)

What to bring:

  • Chess Board & Pieces – will be provided
  • Clock – please bring if you have one (TD may introduce clock towards end of each round)
  • Notation is mandatory (player can bring their notation pad or will be given)
  • Note: Only Water is allowed in the Tournament hall. Any food or snacks should be consumed outside the tournament hall.

Tournament Time:

  • 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm (Parents of young kids must stay in the facility – players can take a short break between their games and parents should be around to be with them during this time)

Prize:

  • Trophies for all with positive score (2 or above in 3 rounds)

Entry Fee (per Quad tournament):

  • $27 online if registered by Wednesday, Oct 27th
  • $30 online if registered by Saturday, Oct 30th
  • $35 on Sunday, Oct 31st (online or onsite)

Covid & General Safety Precautions:

  • Covid Safety: Mask is mandatory for all players. Frequent hand washing is recommended​
  • Visitors are not allowed in the Tournament hall (ample space is available in the lobby and pool area for parents to wait).
  • Organizers will not monitor the kids outside the tournament hall. Parents of young kids are advised to stay in the lobby during the duration of the tournament.

  2. Click on “+” sign in the left menu, select Tournament form, fill in the details and Pay through PayPal.

Do you have a Mavin Account?

  1. You need to create a Mavin account before registering for the tournament using https://mavinacademy.com/sign-in
  2. Fill the information for the parent/guardian and submit. You will receive an email in a few minutes to validate the email and to create your password.
  3. Login and add your Child’s profile.
    1. Click on the top left 3 lines to expand the menu and go to Profile->Student and click ADD to create the student profile. Follow the same procedure if you have more than one student. For student email, use only private email address, if they have one and not school district email. Student email is optional.
  4. To Register: While logged into your parent/guardian account, Click on “+” sign in the left menu, select Tournament form, fill in the details and Pay through PayPal.
